Frequently Asked Questions

Can I do a Tour by myself?
Yes, but most hotels require double occupancy when pricing. Therefore our prices are based on two people sharing a room, so we would have to pass that on.

Can we book separate rooms?
Yes, but the same surcharges as above may apply.

Can I join a Tour part way through the route?
Yes, of course you can! Our tours are designed for your enjoyment. Tour pricing remains the same, regardless where you join in.

Do you provide mechanical back-up?
As a standard, we do not provide back-up on our tours, we recommend you purchase your own recovery/breakdown insurance. We do accompany all tours and in the case of any major breakdowns we can give assistance with arranging help. We provide a cellular number you may call at any time with questions or assistance. ECCO may provide a backup truck on elite tours or events and this will be disclosed on specific tour pages, however it is not a general rule.

Where do we start/join the Tour?
Each tour is unique in design, the destination varies on the tour. See each tour itinerary.

Do we have to follow the exact route?
No, you are free to make your own way between checkpoints, but we do endeavor to provide the best, most scenic routes possible.

Do we have to travel in convoy?
No. You may travel with friends or individually at your own pace. If you don’t feel confident about navigating through the route you can follow the Organizer’s lead car.

Do I need previous experience/is the navigation difficult?
No experience is necessary and navigation is quite easy. Route instructions are provided along with written descriptions and marked maps. ‘Navigational Notes’ are provided to explain all the methods used and the organizations are always available to discuss any questions you may have.

Do I need to join a club/organization to join the tour?
No. We welcome a variety of cars depending on the tour.

Do I need to have any form of special qualifications/licence?
No. Driver’s license, insurance and registration are required for the open road and that’s all.

What is your dress code?
On the road, dress in what you’re most comfortable with. You may opt to dress up for evening affairs.

What is your definition of a Classic Car or the age limit of cars?
“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”. We have no strict criteria for eligibility. Modern sports cars are accepted as well as recognized classics. If your car is reasonably well turned out and ‘interesting’, it will be accepted. The Cannonball Spree and Gumball Spree annual events are the exception to this rule. They are the only events held annually by ECCO where any car may participate out of sheer sportsmanship to keep with the movie’s eccentric themes.

Do the hotels have secure parking?
We ask each hotel to provide a secured parking area solely for road rally cars, however, we cannot guarantee that they will all have security arrangements.

What is the general format of the tours?
We strive to provide a fun filled, leisure and scenic adventure to be shared with other enthusiasts. We have customers from all walks of life and all age groups - the common bond is the love of cars and driving. Our tours offer the chance to put enjoyment back into driving, on quiet roads away from grid locked motor ways!
