The 2010 Inaugural Cannonball Phoenix Spree was a huge success! Thank you to all of our competitors for participating in the most adventurous road rally, scavenger and photo hunt created!
The Inaugural Cannonball Phoenix Spree began at the Fort McDowell Radisson where we celebrated with a kickoff party that included great food, free beer, raffle prizes while Category 5 rounded out the night with some rockin’ songs. Saturday started with competition sheets handed out and an exciting drive off, due to spectators and film crews cheering us on. Cannonballers made their way through Payson stopping at local businesses to collect Cannonball Cash, scavenger hunt items, and pose for some zany pictures.
Competitors completed the drive through Sedona and finally ended in Flagstaff where our ECCO crew tabulated the results for the overall results. The hilarious stories shared at tally check in were some of our most prized memories.
We had a great showing of cars including Lamborghinis, Ferraris, military vehicles, Shelby Cobras, Delorian, classic cars, muscle cars and more. One of our favorite Cannonballers on the event known to many as “hippie Dave” from www.stillruns.com is a great individual with an even bigger personality. He personally walked away with the People’s Choice awards or “Most Eccentric Driver” as well as the “Ya Think They Wouldn’t Make it” because his 1972 Chevy Impala has over 380,000 miles on it and still counting.
For those who didn’t compete in the Cannonball, we had some great photo hunts including Cannonballers pole dancing on a speed limit sign, teams playing “fluffy bunny”, Charlie’s Angel’s poses with Walmart employees, arm wrestling a stranger and losing, posing in a police scene with a chalk outline and more. Not only did we have a great hunt, we had a lot of participants with some great costumes as well.
We’d like to thank Willitmakeit.com for bringing the Duke’s of Hazzard Rosco Car, General Lee, KITT car, Replica Cannonball Ambulance, Kaos Funeral Cars, GothamCityMotor’s Batmobile, Hooter’s girls, UTI, Bondurant, DynoComp, Cobblestone Auto Spa, Doc’s Jags, and Discount Tire.
